What is a Himalayan Salt Lamp?

 

Himalayan Salt Lamps are made out of Himalayan salt found in Pakistan. Depending on the lamp variation, they can be natural salt rocks or hand carved into various shapes.

The salt rock is then bolted down onto a wooden base. Each of the salt lamp has an insert for the light bulb.

A light bulb is placed in the wooden base which results in a attractive and soothing light. Himalayan Salt Lamps provides several benefits.

What are the benefits of Salt Lamps?

Himalayan Salt Lamps produces negative ions. Negative ions help stimulate oxygen in the environment which helps reduce allergies and increases relaxation. Click here to read more about the Benefits. 

Where should you place a Salt Lamp?

Place salt lamps in a open room such as the living room, office, or bedroom. The standard rule is that for every 16 square ft of space, you will need 1 pound of salt. Here is an example.

If your room is 10" x 10", you will need a 6-7 pound salt lamp. For this calculation, take the square footage of your room and divide by 16. The number calculated will be the size of lamp you will need.

You can split by two lamps if necessary. For example, for a 240 square feet room, you will need a 15 pounds salt lamp. You can purchase two 7.5 pounds salt lamp. 

We do not recommend putting a salt lamp in a bathroom where there may be excessive moisture from the steam.

How do you maintain a Salt Lamp?

Himalayan Salt Lamps are very easy to maintain. Naturally the salt lamp may sweat over time if you live in a place with a lot of moisture.

We recommend using a damp towel and wiping down the salt lamp once every other week. 

The bulb is cracked. Where can I buy a replacement?

Our lamps go through a lot of stress from being transported by train and sea for a total of 45 days, by truck to our warehouse, and then by UPS to the delivery address.

Unfortunately, during this process a salt lamp or bulb can crack while in transit. If there is anything cracked, please reach out to us at contact@ambientsaltlamp.com.

The bulb is missing. Where can I buy a replacement?

The bulb is a E12 15 Watt bulb. We are happy to send you a new replacement bulb. The bulbs are in the Styrofoam top insert.

It should be in a white box and is not already installed in the salt lamp. Please check the Styrofoam insert to make sure that it is missing. 

Should I keep my Salt Lamps on at all times?

In order to get the most benefits, we recommend that your lamp stays on as long as possible so that the lamp is warmed up properly with the bulb.

The lamp has to be warm in order to absorb all of the positive ions from the air. Our lamps come with a 15 watt bulb so it uses very little electricity. We do not recommend bulbs that are higher in wattage. 

In summary: If you buy any sort of Himalayan lamp whether it be a Pink Salt Lamp or otherwise, you can enjoy these salt crystals and their beneficial effect.

Even with small amounts of use, the health benefit from these salt crystals from the Himalayan glow will truly clean the air.
